For this issue we decided to have a special look at the amateur scene in rolling. As you can imagine, it was quite a challenge to define the top AMs and decide who should receive the spotlight. After talking back and forth with skaters, editors and photographers, we came up with this line up to highlight the current state of am skating; Jon Jon Bolino, Jeff Dalnas, Jacob Juul, Jeremy Spira, David Sizemore, Nils Jansons, Dave Benski, Sandro Timoteo, Joey Chase and Mark Wodja. All of them push the envelope hard in rolling and deserve the recognition. The main interview goes to Demetrios George, who despite constantly pushing rolling on a professional level, remained am for a long time. Additionally we covered three skate tours with up and coming skaters to give you a glimpse of the names to look out for over the next year or so. And as you can see from the title, we are also questioning the term 'AM', since there seems to be a vast array of definitions which often contradict each other regarding exactly what constitutes an 'am' and a 'pro'. A final big shoutout has to go to everyone who busted their ass for this issue. |
