Thoughts of Easton hockey |

Easton
is one company that keeps on surprising everybody. Who would have ever
thought
a company that started out making arrow shafts would be now a major
leader in
the hockey industry. It all started in 1981, when Easton
made the first aluminium shaft, I’m happy to remember getting my first
Easton shaft back then.
The sticks barely broke. They would bend, so you would just turn them
around
and use the other side. As Easton
continued to develop better shafts with lighter and stronger
aluminium’s,
they also got some major endorsement from players like Wayne Gretzky,
Brett
Hull and Steve Yzerman using their products.

We all remember the
polished
chrome like stick that the great one used for around seven years. Then
Easton attempted to break
into one of the hardest sections of the hockey industry SKATES. It took
over 10
years of making skates to make a dent into the skate market, but now
see them
as a legitimate contender against Bauer, CCM, and Graf. Most people
coming in
buying skates are willing to try on an Easton
skate to compare fit and quality. I was also selling the first of the
Easton skates made to the hockey world back in Saskatoon. I definitely
have seen a lot of progression in their skates over the years in such a
short
time.

Then above and beyond all this comes the Easton one piece stick,
this was brought to
our attention in 1999 and with the creation of the composite Synergy
stick, the
industry's first one-piece hockey stick. Synergy took the sport by
storm,
including the National Hockey League, where over 200 non-endorsed
athletes
choose Synergy. Then of course as Easton
does it builds on this great success and tries to improve they’re
branding and quality of products. They have made the next step again,
into a
very tough market, THE HELMET. This is a big one for the company; this
one
gives them the final piece of the puzzle. Every picture of each player
has the
helmet in the photo to give them max exposure. Imagine all the
publicity they
received from Zetterburg from the 2008 NHL playoffs. That they never
would of
received if it wasn’t for the helmet.
I am an old school type of
player,
like my equipment simple. But I will admit that this is the first
helmet that I
like the way it fits on my head. I think it doesn’t make my head look
as
twice as big as it is. Good job by Easton
for their first time.

Thanks
Kirk
